Vibrant Virtuosity

Our 40th Season opens with two bold blockbusters on one program. “Emperor” – Beethoven’s fifth and final Piano Concerto No. 5 – is a stunning tour de force by one of the world’s greatest composers. Performed by guest artist, Daniel Anastasio, piano, and the Mid-Texas Symphony this piece will leave you in an emotional euphoria. Sibelius’s Second Symphony begins in D major and carries us to the seas, with its rolling, pulsing rhythms. It is at times halting almost segmented, and filled with melancholy and yearning, but reveals a spirit of triumph and hope at the end of the last movement unmatched by many or any other of the major works, by Sibelius, or anyone else. Beethoven & Sibelius - together – performed by the consummate professional musicians of Mid-Texas Symphony and our prodigious Guest Artist, Daniel Anastasio, piano. A must-experience Classical lover’s delight.
