Jonathan Castillo- Principal Bassoon

Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Music degree in bassoon performance from Baylor University (2014) and is a candidate for the Masters of Music degree at the University of Texas in Austin. At Baylor, he was a member of the Baylor Symphony Orchestra and Baylor Wind Ensemble as well as participating in chamber music.

In 2010 Jonathan did a concert tour of Belgium with the Baylor Chamber Orchestra. He was an apprentice at the Hot Springs Music Festival for their 2013 season and has performed in master classes with Milan Turkovic, John Miller, Frank Morelli, and Peter Kolkay, among others. 

Currently, Jonathan is the principal bassoonist for the Mid-Texas Symphony, second bassoonist for the Waco Symphony Orchestra, and is a substitute for the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, Shreveport Symphony, Austin Symphony, Victoria Symphony and Corpus Christi Symphony. In addition to performing, Jonathan is an active teacher in the greater Austin area.
