To ensure affordability for all, the Board of Directors sets the prices of tickets to Mid-Texas Symphony concerts at levels that enable broad community participation. Additional support from individual donors, foundations, corporations, and governmental entities make up the remainder of the budget. You can help by making a gift, attending concerts, spreading the word about the orchestra, or donating the gift of your time and talents. Please contact the Mid-Texas Symphony office at 830-372-8089 or mts@tlu.edu for more information.

Some of the ways you can give are listed below.

Mid-Texas Symphony Endowment Funds

The Mid-Texas Symphony has three specific endowment funds: the General Endowment Fund, the Windecker Legacy Fund, and the Young Artist Competition Fund. All of the Symphony’s endowment funds are professionally managed, with oversight from a committee of the Board. The Symphony’s investment policies are conservative, as are draws from the endowment.

General Endowment Fund
In the 2009-2010 season, the Board of Directors voted to convert a portion of the Symphony’s operating reserves to a General Endowment Fund to help ensure the long-term financial stability of the Symphony.

The endowment will help the Mid-Texas Symphony preserve the cultural heritage and sustain the programs it offers.

Windecker Legacy Fund
While celebrating its thirtieth anniversary season in 2007-2008, the Mid-Texas Symphony established the Windecker Legacy Fund in honor of the symphony’s founder, Anita Windecker. Miss Windecker had the vision of a professional symphony orchestra in Central Texas, and through her tireless advocacy and hard work, the orchestra was not only founded but has flourished.

Miss Windecker achieved these remarkable results while teaching piano to generations of students at Texas Lutheran University and in her own music academy. Through her leadership, teaching and advocacy, she has helped build appreciative audiences for classical music in our area. The Windecker Legacy Fund provides the Mid-Texas Symphony with a fund to support musical education, especially for youth, in the communities served by the symphony.

Young Artist Competition Fund
As its name implies, this fund is designated to help support the Young Artist Competition, held each year.
