For the first time in two decades, Mid-Texas Symphony seeks new artistic leadership. Season 41 (2018-2019) encompasses the entirety of the search for a new music director. Maestro David Mairs retired in May 2018 after 22 years on the podium. He leaves behind a legacy of great musicianship, awe-inspiring concerts, solid artistic foundation, and a void in the artistic leadership.

After an extensive worldwide search, Mid-Texas Symphony has narrowed the music director candidates to four professionally qualified conductors. Candidates will conduct one concert each during the season as a part of their “audition/interview.”  At the end of the season – one candidate earns the coveted title of Mid-Texas Symphony Music Director. Experience all Four Conductors and Four Concerts! ONE FUTURE - Be a part of It!

Audience members will have a chance to meet and mingle with the candidates after the concert during a cookie and punch reception in the lobby of each venue.
